Bantam B Provincials - Director's message, volunteers & tents needed, fund raising.

The 2009 Girls Bantam B Provincial Championships are being hosted by the NVGSA on July 10 - 12, 2009. Teams from all across the province will be participating in some very exciting and highly skilled softball at McCartney Park and Lynn Valley Park.

The Bantam B Provincials are fast approaching! The Provincials organizing committee has been working very hard to get everything prepared, and is happy to report that planning for everything from fundraising through to medal ceremonies is on track.

The Provincials tournament is an exciting event not only for the participants but also for spectators young and old. We would like to invite you to come out to watch some excellent softball. Here is an overview of what will be going on at the tournament. Come on down and support your North Shore Stars teams!

2009 Bantam B Provincials

Volunteers Needed

An event of this size requires a large number of volunteers to be successful.  The core volunteers on the organizing committee (made up of parents from the 93 Stars and 94 Stars) need your help to fill all of the roles required during the tournament weekend.   We are looking for people to help with the following key jobs:

  • field prep between games (dragging, raking, lining)
  • scorekeeping (training will be provided)
  • parking & traffic control
  • concession
  • park cleanup & recycling

Please take some time to check your calendars to see if you might be able to donate a couple of hours of your time to help us out. Your children are welcome to help out as well.  All volunteers who do a minimum 4 hour shift will receive a concession voucher as a thank you for your help!

Tents Needed

We are looking for any tents and canopies that we can borrow to provide shade for the scorekeepers, other volunteers and the teams attending the tournament.  If your family or business is able to lend us a canopy or tent, it would be much appreciated.  Please contact Earl Vance (Logistics Coordinator) at 604-219-9773 or earl@streamlinefp.com.

Fund Raising

Congratulations to the Provincials organizing committee on raising enough funds through sponsorships to cover the operating costs of this tournament.  This is a huge accomplishment!

In light of the hard work and commitment shown by the Rep parents working on these Provincials, the NVGSA Executive has decided that any profit made on these Provincials will be allocated to the Rep program to enable all of the Stars teams next season to send players to additional clinics, upgrade their equipment, attend more tournaments, and generally improve the Rep program.

Making a profit will depend on the success of fundraising activities during the tournament such as 50/50 draws, raffles, etc.  We would very much appreciate any donations of sports equipment, gift certificates, branded clothing, and other desirable items that could be used as draw prizes.  Families and businesses that donate prizes will be given recognition at the tournament.
