Development Camps

For the fourth year in a row, NS Fastpitch is pleased to offer development camps for players in our junior divisions.

These camps focus on skill development in a station format. Throwing mechanics, hitting, bunting, base running (sliding, cornering, footwork), infield and outfield (positioning, receiving stance, footwork and framing). These are skill building camps with an emphasis on fun for all who attend. Camps fill up quickly and space is limited.

Cost $20.00, maximum 60 participants
Squirt & Pee Wee Development camp

Coaches & Managers Handbook

The 2010 Coaches & Managers Handbook has been published and is available for download at www.nsfastpitch.ca/handbook/NSGFA2010Handbook.pdf.

The Handbook has NSGFA policies, important dates, contact information, rules for all divisions, forms, and much more. This handbook contains critical information for coaches and managers, and is useful for all parents and players to read. Each team will receive a hardcopy at the Coaches & Managers meeting.

Uniforms & Equipment

Uniforms and equipment will be discussed at the Coaches & Managers meetings.

Instructions will be provided at the meetings for picking up your team's equipment and uniforms.

League Schedules

League schedules will be published on the website in each division's schedule folder.

Schedules will be available by the end of March, depending on when final team forming is completed so that scheduling can be done. Start checking the website after the Coaches & Managers meetings on March 25; all teams should be prepared to start playing the week of April 5.

2009 Tax Receipts

Receipts were sent by email recently, check your inboxes.

Look for an email entitled "NVGSA: Tax receipt for 2009 softball fees".

Softball BC Message

I would like to give a warm welcome to all of the members of the newly formed North Vancouver Girls Fastpitch Association. As the Softball BC representative for District 4, I act as your association’s liaison with Softball BC and Softball Canada.

At this time I would like to thank the North Shore Fastpitch Executive for the huge amount of “behind the scenes” work they do to make things run smoothly during the season. I know that this year has been a growing one, and I hope that more parents and players get out and volunteer to help make this the best year ever. I am looking forward to seeing the teams play and eager to see some great softball games.

This is an exciting year for Softball BC as the newest CanPitch National Program is being implemented, creating a standardised curriculum based on Softball Canada’s Long Term Player Development framework. There is more information on the Softball BC website.

This season I will be holding a District 4 Scholarship Seminar, with Greg Timms (President of the White Rock Renegades and Chairman of the Canadian Open Fastpitch International Championship) and other North Shore Team Canada guest speakers. Information will be posted on the District 4 blog (http://district4fastpitch.blogspot.com) as it becomes available.

I am delighted to work along side the NSGFA in developing not only the sport of softball, but the love of a game that starts at 4 and ends at 94!
