Lynn Canyon & 30 Foot Pool

The North Shore's "other" suspension bridge is found in Lynn Canyon Park, Lynn Valley. There is no entrance fee, and you can enjoy an ice cream or drink from the cafe while you take in the view from the bridge. Once you've crossed the bridge, walk up-river for 10 minutes along an easy trail to reach 30 Foot Pool, a great swimming hole on hot days. Free Concerts

There are free concerts every Friday during the summer in many neighbourhoods on the North Shore. On July 8 from 7:00 - 9:00 PM, Fab Forever (a Beatles tribute band) will be playing at Edgemont Village, and Jake & Elwood's Blues Brothers Revue (rhythm & blues) will be playing at Lynn Valley Village Plaza.

Ice Cream At The Beach

Two favourite spots to dip your toes into the ocean are Ambleside Beach in West Vancouver and Panorama Park in Deep Cove, North Vancouver. If you go to Deep Cove, enjoy a gelato or an ice cream from one of the shops in the village. If you go to Ambleside, ask for a natural fruit popsicle from the concession, they have some wild flavours.

Tobogganing In July

Did you know that there is still 2 metres of snow on many areas of the North Shore mountains? If you'd like to go tobogganing or tramp around in the snow and enjoy a great view of Vancouver, the Fraser Valley, and Mt Baker (an active volcano in Washington State), simply drive up Mt Seymour. Bring plenty of sunscreen and some bug repellent, though.

Canadian Open Fastpitch

If you are able to spend some time in Vancouver after the Provincials, plan on making a trip to Softball City for the Canadian Open Fastpitch International Championship, July 9-17. Watch games between national teams and elite club teams from all over the world, as well as futures and showcase tournaments for Rep A and B minor teams.
