91 Stars & 96 Stars Win Gold & Bronze

Stars win Midget B gold and Pee Wee B bronze at the 2009 Pepsi Generation tournament at Softball City in Surrey.

91 Stars Win Gold

The North Van Stars ’91 won Gold at the 2009 Pepsi Generation Midget B tournament at Softball City.  After a 3 game round robin the ’91 Stars seeded 4th.  The first playoff game was against View Royal out of Victoria, the Stars went into the last inning trailing and managed a rally to win…next up to play was the undefeated #1 seed Force ’92.  The Stars won the battle against the Force…this win put the Stars in the Championship round against Storm ’91…the Stars set the tone right from the get go…scoring 4 runs in the first inning…the over the fence 3 run homerun from Lindsay V put the Storm on alert…not to be outdone Storms #3 sent a 3 run homerun over the fence knocking the Stars lead down to 1…at the top of the 5th Bre H would step up to widen the gap and she too knocked a 3 run homerun over the fence...with the Stars now up 9-4 the Storm just couldn’t battle back…Stars took home the Gold with the final score 10-4!

96 Stars Win Bronze

The Stars 96 played 5 games this weekend at the Pepsi Challenge Softball tournament.  They were one of only two 96 teams in the tournament and  placed third.

In the first game the Stars tied a strong Fleetwood 95 team 7 all. The Stars dominated the second game, defeating Peninsula 11-1. The third game was much the same, with another 11-1 win against Fleetwood Force 96.  These three games left the Stars in third place going into the playoffs, so they faced the Peninsula team again.  The Stars moved on with a 10-3 win to play Something Special from Washington State in the semifinals.  Unfortunately they lost 8-2, leaving them in third place.  The Stars played very well in the tournament and are proud to come home with third place.
